Is Being motivated for Fitness and Exercise a real challenge for you? Don’t worry you are not alone. Most people make a good start for their fitness journey but the motivation castle collapses so badly that they end up leaving within a few days or in a few weeks. Just Imagine if the motivation was always there for everyone, everyone would have been so fit and active, Isn’t it?
To cut a long story short it’s all about your mind. There are a few tricks and strategies that can help you to trick your mind and stay motivated towards being fit and healthy. In this article, we will be checking out all the ways that will help us to deal with Motivation loss.
Set Clear And Achievable Goals
Our mind likes quick feedback, which means something easily achievable. Suppose you plan to lose 20 kg of weight. Now this is an ambiguous goal because you didn’t have any proper plan for this. So you might lose the motivation soon even though you start doing hard workouts. Instead plan for smaller, precise steps and achieve it.
An example would be,
Something like going for a 30-minute walk every day.
Eat Oats for breakfast
Do 20 Pushups daily
When we set realistic and small goals, our success rate in maintaining these goals will be high and we will remain motivated.
Start with a Lighter Routine
If you initially start with High intense workout, chances are high that you may fall sick because of sudden stress on your body. Sickness will not only suck out all the motivation but will also hamper the fitness progress that you would have achieved.
The other advantage of starting with a lighter workout routine is that you will be able to complete it and Hence you start enjoying the process. In the end, Fitness is not about stressing the body it’s about enjoying the process.
Diversify Your Workout
Don’t just stick to one workout routine for too long. Following a workout routine for a longer time will cause two problem
- Your body will adapt to it and you will see no new improvements.
- Since there are no new improvements, you will lose the motivation to be fit.
Instead, you should spice up your exercise routine by trying different activities. Experiment with jogging, swimming, or even dance classes. Keeping things fresh and exciting will make you look forward to your workouts.
Find a Workout Partner
Budding with someone for the workout not only elevates your chance of being consistent but also helps you keep motivated. How? When you have a workout partner, you will be consistent with your schedule if you start lacking, your partner will remind you to be consistent.
The other benefit that comes with working out in a group is developing competitive thinking, so if someone is doing better you feel like putting in good efforts to reach the same level.
Find Activities You Enjoy
Working out is just a way to be fit but several other activities can help you to achieve your goals. Believe me, you cannot work out all the time. So a simple trick would be to get engaged in activities that you enjoy and can help you burn calories.
It could be anything like Dancing, Hiking, Swimming, Playing some physical sports, etc. Now don’t say you enjoy playing video games, that’s not gonna help. It should be a physical activity.
Schedule Workout
One of the main reasons why we cannot keep up with the workout routine is that we don’t give them the highest priority. What do I mean by Highest Priority? Imagine you woke up late from bed and already got late for the office. Still, there would be several routines you will do before leaving for the office. We need to give that level of Priority to the workout.
This can only be possible if we properly schedule our workouts, Think of it like brushing our teeth. We brush our teeth every day without a miss that’s because we have scheduled it in our daily lives.
Scheduling a workout routine is a good way to be consistent.
Track Your Progress
Tracking the progress is something most people never think of. But it is as important as getting engaged in the workout. As we said our mind likes quick feedback. So any progress, no matter how small could be highly motivating.
Let’s keep in mind that we will not be seeing expected progress so easily such as getting muscles, or losing weight. But what we can see is your capacity gets increased.
Suppose you are into weight lifting, on the first day you will hardly be able to lift good weights but if you remain consistent with it, after a month you will see a major difference in your lifting capacity. This progress will motivate you to keep working out.
Reward Yourself
Only working out all the time could become boring, Instead, we should think about making it more fun and interesting by Rewarding ourselves for timely Achievements. Achievements could be small okay but they will help you be motivated and keep making progress.
Focus on the Benefits
Think about how regular exercise can change your life and make you feel better not just physically but mentally as well. It can boost your mood, give you more energy, help you sleep better, and lower the chances of health issues.
